Game Play

All characters are represented by cards or tokens. This includes the leader. Also each play zone other than No Man's Land is also represented by a card.

To play actions or characters the player must pay their energy cost. The energy comes from the characters energy pools.

At the beginning of the game before play begins each player put their 3 zones into play and their leader, then they add any initial energy on those cards into their pools. They may also put characters into play at this time by paying their cost. They enter play before the game properly begins.

There is also an example game that shows most of the mechanics.

Example Game

This is out of date. The rules have shifted significantly.

The players are named Tom and Joani.

The players now add the Initial Energy from the cards they played to their pool. Tom has 24 Electric (Electric), 0 Lay (Lay) and 0 Protein (Protein). Joani has 0 Electric (Electric), 15 Lay (Lay), 17 Protein (Protein). The players draw their initial Hands of 6 cards. Then, Tom plays initial characters from his opening hand. He plays 2 Fighter Drones placing them both on the Laser Turret. Then Jaoni plays a Fire Walker. Now, Tom has 18 Electric and Joani has 15 Lay and 14 Protein.

Now Tom's first turn begins. Because it is the first turn he does not have to pay his character costs during his Restore Phase. He draws a card from his deck during his Draw Phase. Then he begins his Main Phase.

At the beginning of Tom's Main Phase a Slow Action speed Stack is created and Tom becomes active. At this point he can play any Action he wishes, but he chooses to pass and Joani becomes active, but she passes as well. Now Tom declares a Movement Stack and moves one of how Fighter Drones into No Man's Land, then he passes. Joani responds by moving her Fire Walker into No Man's Land as well, then she passes. Tom could now move the other Drone but because the first Drone has already moved in this stack it cannot move again. He chooses to pass. Now the Fire Walker's movement resolve and it moves to No Man's Land and Tom responds by using his Laser Turret to deal 2 damage to the Fire Walker. This goes on the stack, and Joani passes allowing it to resolve. The Fire Walker's Endurance is now 5. Now the final movement resolves and the Fighter Drone moves to No Man's Land.

As soon as the two Characters are in the same area they enter Combat. They deal there Attack in damage to each other and become Drained (Drain). Now the Fire Walker has 1 Endurance left and the Fighter Drone has 4. Now the player have to option to Retreat their characters and they both do so. They move their characters back on to one of their areas.

Now Tom's declares the end of his turn and during his End Phase Joani uses her Medical Room to Heal her Fire Walker by 3 points (she pays 1 Lay). Her Fire Walker has 4 Endurance, now.

Joani begins her turn. During her Restore Phase she restores her Fire Walker and Medical Room. Then she draws her card during her Draw Phase.

During her Main Phase she then plays another Fire Walker on her center Area, but because it is played during the game it enters play drained. Then she declares a Movement Stack. She moves her non-Drained Fire Walker into No Man's Land. Tom responds by moving his non-Drained Fighter Drone to meet it. Joani responds by using her Medical Room to restore her Fire Walker another 3 Endurance (now at full, 7). Also she uses the Fire Walker's ability twice, paying 2 Lay and raising its Attack to 6. Both players pass and everything resolves and Combat occurs. The Fire Walker is at 3 and the Fighter Drone is at 2. The 2 characters Retreat.

During Joani's End Phase her Fire Walker's attack drops back to 4 again and Tom's uses his Rebuilding Garage on the weaker Drone, costing him 1 Electric.

Joani now has 12 Lay and 14 Protein. Tom has 17 Electric.

Tom's next turn begins. His Fusion Plant adds 2 Electric to his pool (now 19). During his Restore Phase he must pay the cost of each character and his leader. The total is 9 Electric. He now has 10 Electric, and all his permanents are undrained.
