An ability is a kind of action that is not represented by a physical card. They exist as text on a permanent.
An ability's factions is the same as the permanent's. Its cost is shown with its text on the permanent. It has no name. When played its source is the permanent on which it is printed.
Each card has a number of abilities. Each ability is a separate paragraph in the card's text.
